About Us

This website grew out of a town meeting, Environmental Health in Our Neighborhoods: Speaking Out About Pollution and Health, that was co-sponsored by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) and the Chronic Disease Prevention and Control Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine, with the support and collaboration of the regional NIEHS Centers as well as area universities, organizations and individuals. From surveys, questions raised at the meeting and post-meeting discussions, three community-based task forces were formed to address the primary concerns raised by the Houston-area community. This website grew out of that effort.
