Children's Art

In collaboration with the City of Houston Department of Parks and Recreation, we invited children at 16 area community centers to create drawings that illustrate the underlying themes of this year's symposium, Environmental Health Is a VERB! Building Healthy Children, expressing through their art concerns about environmental and health problems in their neighborhoods, as well as describing their ideas of what makes a healthy children and a healthy community.

Out of the 152 submissions, 30 pieces that particularly well illustrated the different themes of the symposium were selected by the 2007 Symposium Planning Committee. These will be framed and exhibited in the "prefunction" area outside of the Denton A. Cooley Auditorium before and during the symposium. To view all 152 pieces of art we received, each with the artist's name and age, please go the the first page of the Children's Art Exhibition or click here.

Please join us in thanking all of the 152 children who participated, each of whom received a personal letter and a certificate reflecting our appreciation for their participation.
